Nade Liang finished his position as a transportation research intern at Westat, Inc. During this internship, Nade made significant contributions to various stages of undergoing research activities, particularly the ones funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

He contributed to applied transportation research studies, particularly on a study that evaluates methods to transfer system knowledge to drivers in conditionally automated vehicles, to support their situation awareness (SA) in critical conditions. He worked on multiple tasks for different stages of this study, including literature reviews, developing and improving experimental protocols, preparing human-subject training materials, conducting data labeling, cleaning and statistical analysis, as well as user interface design and testing on an instrumented vehicle.

In addition to research studies, he supported business development by contributing to proposals and having conversations with potential collaborators. Applying his academic expertise in transportation human factors and technical writing, he provided critical perspectives and detailed domain knowledge for research proposals. He also collaborated with cross-functional teams of engineers, psychologists, and computer scientists. Working with experts across disciplines highlighted the importance of communication and teamwork on complex research projects.
